Useful tips for changing your address details:

  • Check both addresses
If the page shows two different addresses under ‘address’ and ‘postal address’, please check both.

  • Has ‘Postbus 754, 9700 AT Groningen’ been entered under the postal address?
Please replace it with your correct postal address. Our records automatically insert ‘Postbus 754’ for customers whose post has been returned to us. Changing it will ensure that post is not returned to us in the future.

  • Questions or difficulties?
Please contact us. We're happy to help.

Why is it important to change my address?

Your financial security is very important. Having the correct address forms part of this. For example, it allows us to deliver your debit card and other confidential post to the correct address.

The Dutch Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act also states that we must accurately record your details. If we do not receive your address, we will reconsider and possibly terminate our relationship. We prefer to avoid that situation and therefore ask you to change your address.

Why does ABN AMRO need your address details?

Most of our communication with our customers is digital. You will only receive letters if you have specifically asked for this. Or if there’s no alternative, for example if you have ordered a product that can’t yet be arranged through Internet Banking or the ABN AMRO app.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can have two different addresses registered in your address details: a principal address and a postal address. Your principal address cannot be a PO Box, but your postal address can.
Yes, you can give an address abroad either through Internet Banking or the ABN AMRO app.

You can only change your own address details.

  • Even if you are authorised to operate as a third party account, the address details can only be amended by account holders themselves.
  • If the account is a joint one, the change of address must be communicated by both account holders.
If you don’t change your address details, you will see a block when you log in to Internet Banking or the ABN AMRO app. This block will be lifted as soon as you've submitted your change of address.

If you still don't submit the change after the block, we will have to reconsider our relationship with you, and potentially terminate it.

You can still change your address details even if you see a block when logging in. Please follow the procedure below:

  1. Log in to Internet Banking or the ABN AMRO app.
  2. Click on the 'Change address’ button in the pop-up.
  3. Now change your address details. (Please note: if both a principal address and a postal address are shown, please check both.)
Once you've changed your address, the block you see in Internet Banking and the ABN AMRO app will be lifted right away.
The law stipulates that we as a bank are required to keep complete and up-to-date records of our clients’ address details. If you don’t change your address, even after repeated requests, we will be legally obliged to deny you access to our products and/or services. This means that we'll terminate our relationship with you. We'll inform you accordingly in a separate letter. This letter will tell you the date on which we plan to terminate our relationship with you and discontinue our products and/or services to you.
