The e.dentifier is needed less and less often

You can log in to Internet Banking securely with the ABN AMRO app.

Carry on banking the way you want

You don’t need to use the ABN AMRO app to do your banking if you don’t want to. You can still use your PC or laptop. Simply log in using the app and then carry on as normal. That way, logging in and doing your banking remain separate actions, just like they are with the e.dentifier.

You no longer need an e.dentifier to:

Log in to Internet Banking

Log in by scanning the QR code with your mobile phone and continue on your PC.

Activate the app

Scan your ID in the app.

Transfer large amounts

You can do this up to €50,000 in the app.

It’s still up to you whether you do your banking on a laptop or in the app

Use the app just to log in

If you’d rather do your banking on a laptop, you can. There are plenty of clients who only use the app to log in to Internet Banking.

FAQs about the e.dentifier and the app

How do I log in without an e.dentifier?

If you’re going to use Internet Banking
Open the ABN AMRO app on your phone or tablet. Tap the icon in the top left: this will open the scanner. Scan the QR code on the Internet Banking log-in screen. Enter your personal identification code and you’re logged in. Continue banking as usual, on your laptop or PC. 

If you’re going to use the ABN AMRO app
If you do your banking with the app, log in with your personal identification code, your fingerprint, or facial recognition.

Is it safe to use someone else’s e.dentifier?

Yes, feel free to borrow one from a family member or housemate. An e.dentifier isn’t linked to a specific person. Just slide your own card into the e.dentifier when you want to do your banking.

If you’ve received a new e.dentifier, but can actually borrow someone else’s, leave the e.dentifier in its packaging and return it to us. You can use the return label to send it back to us. There is no postage required. Good to know: we will never ask you to send us your debit card. This only applies to the e.dentifier.

When do you need an e.dentifier?

You can do most of your banking in the ABN AMRO app. If you have a particular reason for needing an e.dentifier, we can help you to request one, if you no longer have one.

Why would I use the ABN AMRO app?

Because you’ll have all your banking at your fingertips. If you just want to check your balance or need to block your debit card: the app is all you need. Just like Internet Banking, the ABN AMRO app is a secure, closed environment. You don’t need to leave the app for most of your banking. So you don’t need to keep grabbing your debit card or e.dentifier. You’re in control, in every situation. You can do your banking in the app, with the level of security you’re used to. You’re the only one with access to your accounts in the ABN AMRO app.

If you’ve downloaded the app, you need to register your device so that we know you’re who you say you are. You secure the app with a 5-digit identification code, your fingerprint or facial recognition. You can download a new version of the app every 2 weeks, with the latest security and other new features.

How secure is the app?

The ABN AMRO app is secure. The ABN AMRO app and Internet Banking are both completely closed environments. Your data is encrypted and transmitted via a secure connection. If you’re still having doubts about the app’s security, we’d be happy to tell you more on Do your banking securely with the app.
