Since 3 January 2018, we have been obliged to report all investment transactions to the regulators, indicating a personal identifier such as the number of your passport or ID card.
A driving licence also served as an identity document in the past. But since the introduction of the EU’s Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II), we are no longer allowed to accept this as valid ID.
If you recently received a letter from us asking you to present (a copy of) your passport or ID card, you can upload a copy via Internet Banking or take this along to one of our bank branches.
Do you have Internet Banking or make use of the Mobile Banking app? If so, you can easily upload a copy of your passport or ID card. Take a photograph of your passport or ID card, or scan it. If you wish, you can hide your citizen service number (BSN). We regret that we are not allowed to accept a driving licence as proof of identity for your investments.
You may prefer to go along to a branch of ABN AMRO Bank with your passport or ID card. You can find your nearest branch here (in Dutch). Obviously, you should take your valid passport with you. If you do not have a valid passport, then take your valid ID card. One of our bank staff will verify your data and make a scan of your ID.
