What you can do

Lost debit card

  • Have you lost your debit card, or has it been stolen?
  • Have you sent your debit card to a fraudster?
  • Is someone misusing your details?

In such cases, block your debit card immediately, even if you are not sure.

Lost phone

  • Have you lost your phone or has it been stolen?
  • Have you stopped using your mobile device? 
  • Do you think somebody might be using your identification code to log in to the ABN AMRO app without your permission? 

In such cases, block your phone immediately, even if you are not sure.

Lost credit card

  • Have you lost your credit card, or has it been stolen?
  • Have you sent your credit card to a fraudster?
  • Is someone misusing your details?

In such cases, block your credit card immediately, even if you are not sure.

App blocked

Your app can be blocked in certain situations. If you have entered the wrong identification code several times, you can unblock the app yourself. Simply use your ID to reactivate the app: open the app, log in, tap ‘yes’ in the error message and follow all on-screen steps.

If the app has been blocked for a different reason, please contact us.

Unsafe situation at the ATM

If you ever feel unsafe withdrawing cash from an ATM, because the situation seems unsafe for instance or because the ATM looks different to what you’re used to, it’s a good idea to find a different ATM.

  • If anyone is acting suspiciously near an ATM or if the ATM looks different to normal, call the police on: 0900 - 88 44 (local rates apply), lines are open 24 hours a day.
  • If it’s a yellow Geldmaat ATM or a bank’s ATM, you can also call Geldmaat on: +31 (0)88 - 227 41 00.
Secure banking on your mobile phone

We make strenuous efforts to ensure banking on your mobile phone is secure. It's equally important that you are aware of all you can do to keep your device safe and secure. What you can do to stay safe when banking online:

  1. Keep your  secret
  2. Make your phone more secure
  3. Check your device registrations on a regular basis
  4. Use your own mobile provider's 4G network
  5. Always install updates for the ABN AMRO app and your device software (iOS or Android) as soon as you receive them
  6. Only install or update apps from an official or reliable publisher
  7. Lost your phone? Make sure no one can use your phone and the ABN AMRO app
Secure Internet Banking

We do our utmost to ensure our customers can do their banking securely, but it is equally important for you yourself to be aware of how to use your computer and your details securely. How to keep your banking secure:

  1. Always keep your secret
  2. Install antivirus software on your computer
  3. Be sure to always install updates for your virus scanner, operating system and browser
  4. Only install or update software using official or reliable suppliers
  5. Never click links - sent to you in an email, text message or by any other means - to log in to Internet Banking
  6. Type in our website address manually: 'https://www.abnamro.nl'
  7. Some browsers ask if you would like them to remember your password and codes. Never save your security codes in this way.

  4. Check your current account on a regular basis
  5. Report any incidents to the bank immediately and follow the bank’s instructions

Remember that we would never ask you, for example, to

  • give us your security codes
  • send us your card
  • transfer money by phone
  • log in directly to the ABN AMRO app or Internet Banking using a link
  • transfer money using a link in an email or text message
  • download software that allows us to view your banking environment
  • hand over your debit card when we visit you
