Over the course of 2024, we will start issuing new debit cards with the Mastercard logo. Mastercard is accepted in shops all over the world, so the revamped debit card lets you pay at more places than with the debit card with the Maestro logo. You will receive the new debit card when your current debit card expires or if it is replaced for another reason.
The new debit card with the Mastercard logo has extra benefits compared with your current debit card. The new card makes it easy for you to pay securely at all points that accept Mastercard worldwide, and online. And it goes without saying that you can also make cash withdrawals at ATMs and card payments in shops with the new debit card.
You might know the Mastercard brand as a credit card. The new debit card is not a credit card. Just like with your current debit card with the Maestro logo, your payments are debited from your current account right away, so you won’t be using a credit facility or have to pay later.
ABN AMRO is not the only bank replacing Maestro cards with Mastercard debit cards. All Dutch banks will replace their Maestro debit cards with debit cards with the Mastercard logo in due course, as the Maestro brand is set to be discontinued.
We will start issuing the new debit cards over the course of 2024. As soon as your card is replaced, you will receive a letter with detailed information about your revamped debit card and the benefits it gives you.
