Your savings card has been cancelled. This may have inconvenient consequences for you if you do not yet have a current account or debit card.

As of 1 October 2022, it is no longer be possible to withdraw cash directly from a savings account. In addition, the savings card can no longer be used to log in to Internet Banking.

It is important that you take action. Which action, depends on how you use the savings card and whether you already have a Basic Payment Package or, in case of a minor, a Young Person’s Bank Account.

The essence of our services is the Basic Payment Package. This package contains a current account, a debit card and access to Internet Banking. And these products also provide you easy access to the ABN AMRO App. This package costs € 2.95 per month for 1 account holder. Read more about our payment fees.

It is mandatory to have an ABN AMRO current account as a contra account to a savings account.

You can easily apply for a current account online. The Basic Payment Package costs € 2.95 per month (for 1 account holder) and includes a debit card, Internet Banking and use of our versatile ABN AMRO App. Read more about our payment fees.

If you use the link above to apply for a current account, you will notice that the application does not take into account the fact that you are already an ABN AMRO client. After your application, an employee from the company AMP will visit you for the signing of the agreement for your payment package and for identification and verification purposes. After this visit, the payment package will be opened and the debit card and Internet Banking will be applied for. We understand that this may seem rather laborious to you. However, this way you can submit your application completely online, without having to go to one of our branches.

You need a Young Person’s Bank Account to withdraw money from a savings account in the name of a minor. The Young Person’s Bank Account is a free current account for minors. A debit card can be requested for this account. In Internet Banking you can set the authorisations for your child. This way, you decide what your child can and cannot do.

You can also request an additional debit card if you would like to have a separate card for Internet Banking.

We would also like to draw your attention to the Secure Banking information.

Maybe you are not willing to open a Basic Payment Package with ABN AMRO. In that case, you can also choose to close your savings account(s). Of course we would be sorry to see you go.

We will then transfer your balance (and any accrued interest) to you. If you are able to log in to Internet Banking, you can close the account yourself here. If you cannot log in to Internet Banking, please contact us by telephone on 0900 – 00 24 (standard call charges apply).

The savings card states the account number of your savings account. The debit card states the account number of the current account.

Your savings card has been cancelled as of 1 October 2022. You are no longer able to use the savings card to log in to Internet Banking or to withdraw cash. Your savings account(s) will of course be continued.
