Standing orders

Never forget a monthly payment again

If you often make payments to the same account, a standing order is a handy way of ensuring you never forget another payment. With a standing order you make an automatic recurring credit transfer at a pre-determined day. And if you always want to keep a certain amount in your account and automatically transfer the surplus, you can opt for a standing order with different amounts.

  1. Create new transfer

    • Log into Internet Banking.
    • Click on the top right yellow button 'new transfer'.
  2. Enter payment details

    • Select the account from which you wish to pay the standing order. This can be a payments account or a consumer savings account.
    • Fill in the amount to be transferred at 'Amount'.
    • Fill in the account number and name of beneficiary at 'To'.
  3. Specify 'standing order'

    • At the bottom left corner, you can indicate whether the payment is 'one-time' or 'standing'. To set up a standing order, click on 'standing'.
    • Set the interval between payments. If the payment is done monthly, select 'Each 1 month'.
    • Select the start date.
    • Set an end date if you wish to do so.
  4. Different amounts

    • With a standing order with different amounts you can, for example, make monthly payments to your savings account, while making sure the remaining balance in your payments account never drops below the threshold you have set. Tick 'Different amounts'.
    • Fill in the amount you want to remain in your account.
    • The minimum amount has already been filled in, but you can change this.
    • Determine a maximum amount.
  5. Exceptions

    • Select 'Exceptions' to exclude certain months.
    • You can indicate here that a payment must not take place in a certain month, either on a one-off basis or never.
  6. Completion

    • Click on 'save and new transfer' if you want to make another payment.
    • Click on 'continue' when you have finished. You will then be taken to the Internet Banking 'Task list' to confirm your payments.

Frequently asked questions

Log into Internet Banking, select 'Accounts', and click on the account from which the periodic payment will be debited. In the account overview, you must then select the 'Future' tab page. There you will see all upcoming payments. Click on the standing order you want to change or cancel.

  • To change the standing order, click on 'change'.
  • To remove the standing order, click on 'delete'.

Please note: the change or removal is only confirmed after the instruction is signed and submitted via the 'Task list'.

You cannot reverse a payment or standing order. You can ask the recipient to return the amount paid.

You can change or cancel a standing order until and including the day before the day of execution. You cannot change or cancel a standing order on the actual day of execution.

If you want a standing order paid on a Saturday or Sunday and that day is:

  • the last calendar day of the month, then the amount is debited from your account on the preceding Friday and sent to the recipient's bank.
  • a calendar day other than the last calendar day of the month and the recipient’s bank co-operates with instant payments? Then the amount is debited from your account on Saturday or Sunday and credited on the recipient’s account immediately. Does the recipient’s bank not (yet) co-operate with instant payments (the message ‘With the recipient: within 1 working day after execution’ will appear in the summary of the entry)? Then, the amount is debited from your account on Saturday or Sunday and sent to the recipient’s bank on the subsequent Monday. In this case, Monday is stated as the entry date on your electronic account statement (in MT940 or CAMT.053 format).
