Applying for an ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card or Gold Card

Apply for your credit card by calling Private Assistance

You can easily apply for an ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card or Gold Card by calling Private Assistance. You can reach Private Assistance from Monday until Friday from 08.00 - 21.00 or on Saturday from 09.00-17.30 by calling +31 (0)20 343 43 43. 

  1. Private Assistance will process your application
  2. You can confirm your application via Internet Banking or by post.
  3. You will receive an email from ICS within 5 days, containing a UAN (Unique Access Number) and information about activating your Credit Card and choosing a PIN number. 
  4. Select and confirm your PIN number.
  5. You will receive your Credit Card 3 days after confirming your PIN number.
  6. If you did not select a PIN number, you will receive your Credit Card within 8 days. ICS will choose a PIN number for you.

No cash on you? With your ABN AMRO MeesPierson credit card, you can make payments anywhere in the world. More than 24 million businesses accept credit card payments. You can also make cash withdrawals at over 900,000 ATMs worldwide.

Credit Card or Gold Card?

A credit card allows you to pay at any time, worldwide and online. The standard credit limit is € 2,500 per month for an ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card and up to € 5,000 per month for an ABN AMRO MeesPierson Gold Card. You receive a statement of your transactions at the end of each month. If you have an EasyPay Extra Package, your ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card is included. With an EasyPay Max Package, one Gold Card and an additional Gold Card are included.

Want to know exactly what you paid for with your credit card? That is where  CreditCard Online  comes in: a personal digital environment where you can view all of your payments and access account overviews. You can also view payments made with your ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card or ABN AMRO MeesPierson Gold Card with the Mobile Banking app.

An EasyPay Extra Package includes one ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card at no extra charge. If you would like to apply for more credit cards, bear in mind the additional charges.

Changing your limit
If you already have a credit card and want to change your limit, you can do so online through  Creditcard Online.

What should I do in case of loss or theft?

If you have lost your credit card or if your cedit card has been stolen, you are asked to report this to ICS’s Losses and Thefts department at one of the phone numbers listed below. Your credit card will be cancelled immediately, after which you will receive a new credit card as soon as possible. This is a free service.

  • In the Netherlands: +31(0)20 - 660 06 11 (local telephone rates).

  • From outside the Netherlands: +31(0)20 660 06 11.

Monthly transaction overview: this concerns Paper Statements

If you use your credit card, you will receive an overview every month that contains a list of all of the transactions which you have made with your credit card. Transactions may either be in the form of a payment or a cash withdrawal at an ATM. 

You can also choose to view a digital copy of your transactions. You can view your monthly overviews via Creditcard Online.

Repayment in a lump sum or in instalments?

The money spent using your credit card will be withdrawn from your ABN AMRO account.

Purchase insurance
Almost all purchases made with your credit card are insured against loss, theft and damage:

  • ABN AMRO MeesPierson Credit Card: 180 days.

  • ABN AMRO MeesPierson Gold Card: 1 year

Baggage delay insurance (for scheduled flights) 

  • Up to a 4-hour delay: The expenses for your necessary purchases (items such as clothing and toiletries) will be reimbursed.

  • 4 to 48-hour delays: You will be reimbursed up to a maximum amount of € 140.

  • More than 48 hours: You will be reimbursed up to a maximum amount of € 410.

Flight delay insurance (for scheduled flights) You will be reimbursed for the cost of meals (food and beverages) up to € 140 if your flight has been delayed by at least 4 hours.

Car Insurance Legal Assistance (only with an ABN AMRO Gold Card)
If you are involved in an accident with your rental car, the expenses for legal assistance will be covered as follows:

  • Unlimited coverage for Europe and the Mediterranean countries.

  • Coverage up to € 10,000 in other countries.

Excess cover insurance (only with an ABN AMRO MeesPierson Gold Card) If you pay for your rental car using a Gold Card, the excess in the event of damage will be automatically insured up to a maximum of € 500 per incident.

Costs of payments abroad
  • It's free to make card payments in euros using a payment terminal.
  • If the payment terminal transaction is in a foreign currency, the withdrawal or payment amount will be converted to euros. For more information about the exact charges, please visit the  ICS website

Cash withdrawals using your credit card

  • You will be charged a fee when withdrawing cash from a cash machine using your credit card. The exact fee is listed on the  ICS website .
  • You will be charged a fee for withdrawing cash from a cash machine in a foreign currency. The amount will also be converted into euros.

Enhanced security

Pay for your online purchases even more safely with the MasterCard SecureCode. A great number of online stores are already implementing this code. This code uses a personal password when making credit card payments. After you register your password (free, one-time registration), you will be able to easily make all of your online purchases using your credit card and password.

Text message service

Card Alerts are free text messages from ICS. With Card Alerts, you can keep track of your credit card spending and payments more easily. You will receive a text message when, for example, a major transaction is about to be processed on your credit card. After logging in to CreditCard Online, you can sign up for the service via the  'Card Alerts' tab. You can also receive certain Card Alerts by e-mail.

How do I cancel the credit card?

Call the ICS Service Desk at 020 - 6600 400 (from The Netherlands, local rate), or from outside the Netherlands at +31 20 6600 400. You will receive a form at your postal address. Please fill in the form, sign it, and return it to us. The notice period for cancelation is one month.

From 2016, ABN AMRO is required by law to establish their clients' tax residency. This is why we ask our existing clients questions regarding tax residency when applying for a new credit card. You are namely a new client for International Card Services B.V. (ICS), the company that issues credit cards for ABN AMRO.
