Choose your term

With a Term Deposit you decide how long you want to put your money away. You can choose from a term of 1 month to 10 years. The interest rate is based on the term you choose.

Special forms of a Term Deposit are a Special Purpose Deposit and a Term Deposit in foreign currency.

Interest rate
  • We link the interest rates of the Term Deposit in Euro and foreign currency to the money and capital markets.
  • The interest rate is fixed during the agreed term.
Opening a Term Deposit
  • At the moment, you can open a Term Deposit in Euro, USD and GBP with a term of 1 month to 10 years.
  • Ask your private banker or relationship manager about the maturities for the other currency.
  • The Term Deposit has a minimum deposit of €100,000 or the equivalent of €100,000 in the case of foreign currency.
  • The Term Deposit has a maximum deposit of € 25,000,000 or the equivalent of € 25,000,000 in the case of foreign currency. For a higher maximum deposit, please contact your private banker.
  • When you open a Term Deposit, you choose the term. This can no longer be changed.
  • To open and use a Term Deposit in Euro and foreign currency, you will need a current account in your name with ABN AMRO. This payment account must be in the same currency as the Term Deposit.
  • You can currently open a Term Deposit in the following currencies: EUR, AUD, CAD, CHF, DKK, GBP, HKD, JPY, NOK, NZD, PLN, SEK, SGD or USD.
  • You can only open a Special Purpose Deposit in euros. When opening, you agree on a special purpose in advance with the bank. Permitted purposes are the purchase of real estate, investments at ABN AMRO, an annuity or pension insurance at ABN AMRO, a Term Deposit or Savings Deposit at ABN AMRO with a term of two years or longer.
End of term

When the term of your Term Deposit has expired, we will transfer the amount to your beneficiary account. To open a new Term Deposit or discuss alternatives, please contact your private banker of relationship manager.

Terminating a Term Deposit or withdrawing money

It is not permitted to withdraw (part of) your deposit earlier than you and the bank have agreed. In special circumstances, the bank may allow you to withdraw (part of) your deposit earlier. In most cases you will pay a fine for this. Read more about this in the Term Deposit Terms and Conditions.

Dutch Deposit Guarantee

Your money is protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee.

Your money in accounts at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. is legally protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee, from 1 cent to € 100,000. This protection applies per person and applies to the total amount you have in your accounts with ABN AMRO. You do not have to do anything to effectuate this.
