Activating your ABN AMRO app on a new device

Use a unique QR code

Do you have a new smartphone and want to activate your ABN AMRO app on it? 
There’s a QR code you can use to do this.

Scan the unique QR code in the ABN AMRO app on your old device using the app on your new smartphone. Your details will be transferred automatically. The process takes around five minutes and you follow the instructions on both devices.

This feature is currently only available for Android phones.

Here's how it works

  1. Install the ABN AMRO app on your new smartphone

    Make sure you download the app from an official app store, such as the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
    Enter the same account and card number as on your old device. Please note: these details must be an exact match. 

    Follow the further steps and choose to identify with your old device. Now authorise the camera on your new device to scan the QR code. 

  2. Log in to the ABN AMRO app on your old phone

    Go to ‘Profile’ and click ‘Activate a new device’ to create a QR code. 
    For security purposes, you’ll be asked who you are requesting this QR code for. Never install your ABN AMRO app on someone else’s phone without thinking very carefully.

  3. Scan the QR code with your new device and follow the steps

    You’ll receive a notification if the scan is successful. 
    Go back to your old device. Confirm your request using your 5-digit identification code. Please note: don’t close the screen on your new phone! If you do, you’ll have to start again.

    You should now receive a notification saying that you can complete the process on your new phone. 

  4. Done!

    You've activated the app.

Help with activating the ABN AMRO app

If you don’t manage to activate the ABN AMRO app on your new device, a reason will be given. This might be because you waited too long, for example, or because your details are incorrect. We recommend that you try again or use your e.dentifier and debit card. If you don’t have an e.dentifier or you need further assistance, please contact our customer service team.
