If you select all-risk cover when applying for the policy, you will have an excess of €100 for specific all-risk claims. In addition, you can select a voluntary excess of €100, €250 or €500. This additional excess applies per incident. You will receive a discount on your premium, but you will also receive less compensation in the event of a claim. Basic cover insures you against incidents such as fire, burglary and water damage. All-risk cover also includes any damage resulting from other sudden or unexpected events, even if you are responsible for the event. Take, for example, damage to the floor because you dropped something. All-risk cover includes all-risk glass cover. The compulsory excess for all-risk claims is €100. If you are only claiming for damage to glass, the compulsary excess does not apply. Some damage, such as intentional damage, is never covered. Take a look at the  terms and conditions  to see what is and is not covered.

Please note that you can only select additional personal possessions cover if you have an all-risk policy.

During the online application process

During the online application process, you’ll be asked to select basic cover or all-risk cover. You can still change your home insurance policies after you’ve submitted your online application. If you’re requesting home contents insurance as well as home insurance, the cover is the same for both: basic or all-risk.

If you’d prefer a separate cover for each insurance policy, or you want to combine all-risks glass cover with the basic cover, contact us for a personal offer.

Frequently asked questions

Home insurance cushions financial setbacks in the event of damage to your home. This includes damage caused by fire, storm, water and burglary.

As a general rule, home insurance is not a legal requirement. However, it might be for some homeowners. A mortgage lender may require you to take out this kind of insurance in order to obtain a mortgage, for example. More information is available in the terms and conditions of the ABN AMRO Home Insurance.

Yes, sustainable devices such as solar panels, charging stations, wind turbines and heat pumps and the associated cables are covered if they are attached to your home or are in the yard of your home. They must always be securely fastened or anchored. Solar panels may also be weighted on a flat roof.

Since 1 July 2022, it has been mandatory to have smoke detectors in your home. They warn you straight away when there is a fire, so you can take immediate action.

The government and your insurance company do not check whether you have smoke detectors inside your home. If anyone calls on you pretending to be a smoke detector inspector, do not let them in. This is a door-to-door scam by a scammer trying to gain access to your home to steal money or belongings.

If you have incurred damage and your home has no smoke detectors, this will not affect your claim. ABN AMRO Verzekeringen will not invoke the lack of smoke detectors in the event of a claim. But it is a smart idea to install them for your own safety and to protect your home and belongings. If you are a landlord, however, you will be liable for the consequences as well as liable to prosecution if there is a home fire and you had no smoke detectors installed.

With an ABN AMRO Home Insurance you are insured in the event of damage caused by:

  • Fire, lightning or explosion
  • Theft and vandalism, or attempts made to that end
  • Storm and rainfall
  • Collision with a motor vehicle
  • Falling tree, crane or part thereof
  • Broken glass (if the breakage is caused by an insured event)
  • Damage caused by a burst water pipe inside your home, inside your neighbours’ home or in the street

With an ABN AMRO All-Risk Home Insurance you are insured in the event of damage caused by:

  • Fire, lightning or explosion
  • Theft and vandalism, or attempts made to that end
  • Storm and rainfall
  • Collision with a motor vehicle
  • Falling tree, crane or part thereof
  • Broken glass
  • Damage caused by a burst water pipe inside your home, inside your neighbours’ home or in the street
  • Damage caused by a burst water pipe inside your neighbours’ home or in the street
  • Damage caused by you, your partner or children. For example if you accidentally left the tap open. Or if you drop something, such as a vase

You are not insured for damage caused by:

  • Intentional or gross negligence
  • Water damage caused by faulty sealant and joint seams
  • Rainfall through open doors or windows
  • Poor or overdue maintenance
  • Wear and tear, rot or rust

Working from home is covered, provided the risk of damage does not increase. If you or a family member use the house or outbuilding for business purposes, you may not always be covered. For instance, if you run a garage from home or work with hazardous substances, you may not be insured. However, if you have a home office, such as a beauty salon without staff or only carry out desk or screen work, you are covered. Review the terms and conditions for more details. Unsure if your business activities are insured? Get in touch with us.

Damage caused by your wood stove is insured if the installation of the wood stove complies with current guidelines. ABN AMRO Verzekeringen will never reimburse damage caused by:

  • Intent, gross negligence or illegal activity by you
  • Poor or overdue maintenance, wear, rot or rust
  • A construction fault of your home

There is always only 1 policyholder. Only the policyholder can view the insurance policies in Internet Banking . Log in to Internet Banking and view your insurance policies in your product overview.
