What is covered?

  1. Personal Liability Insurance
Our personal liability insurance covers you for up to €1.250,000. This supplementary insurance is only valid if your parents’ personal liability insurance does not cover the damage or does not provide sufficient cover. The terms and conditions explain what is and isn’t covered by our personal liability insurance.

Tip: check whether, and if so until what age, you are covered by your parents’ personal liability insurance as a student. This can vary for each insurer. You’ll find this in the terms and conditions of your parents’ personal liability insurance under the heading "policyholders"  or "who is insured". If your parents have personal liability insurance with ABN AMRO, you’re automatically insured, as long as you follow a full-time study.

    What’s not insured
    • Anything that you damage due to deliberate or careless behaviour.
    • Damage to the possessions of another person living at your address.
    • Damage that arose or was caused before the insurance took effect, or after it was cancelled.

The terms and conditions give an overview of situations that are, or are not, covered by personal liability insurance.

  2. Home Contents Insurance
Home contents insurance covers the possessions in your home against fire, storms and overflowing/leaking water, and theft after a break-in. If you move house, your possessions are insured at both your old and your new address. The terms and conditions and the policy state the maximum amounts we will pay out in the event of damage. A complete overview of situations where you are and are not covered is also included. Please note: if you share a house with other people, theft is only covered if a break-in occurs in the part of the house occupied solely by you. In other words, communal areas are not covered.

    What’s not insured
    • Glass damage.
    • If you cause damage through intent or negligence.
    • Precipitation through an open window.
    • Loss of or damage to home contents caused by, for example, earthquake, war or flood, is not covered.

    Excess
    • If you live in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht or The Hague, you will need to pay an excess of €250 in the event of a claim for theft.
    • You don’t need to pay an excess if your possessions are stolen from your car. However, you will not be reimbursed more than €250.

You’ll find an overview of situations where you are and are not covered in the terms and conditions.
