Teaching your child how to manage money can be tricky, but it’s extremely important. Research done by the Dutch National Institute for Family Finance Information (Nibud) shows that children who learn at home how to handle money are less likely to fall into debt later on. And that’s why we’ve partnered with Gimi. Our young clients between the ages of 8 and 13 will now get free access to this fun-to-use money app.
Unfortunately, the Gimi app is only available in Dutch.

In this fun-to-use money app, your child can set their own savings goals. Every time they get pocket money or finish a small job, they can see they’re one step closer to reaching their goal.
Don’t feel like washing the car? Use your account to easily set up small jobs for your child in the app. Your child can also suggest their own small jobs.
The app has lessons and quizzes for your child, allowing them to reach different levels and earn various badges. That way, they learn the value of money through play.
Here at ABN AMRO, we’re committed to equipping the next generation with the financial knowledge and skills they need. Our aim in partnering with Gimi is to help parents in the Netherlands give their children the financial skills they need in order to succeed in the future. The Gimi app is safe to use. The content was created by pedagogic experts. And children can’t make purchases within the app, which is ad-free.
Gimi AB is a registered Payment Service Provider for account information with the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, and operates under its supervision.
Please note! To get the most out of Gimi, parents and children both need to download the app and link to one another through it.
You can choose whether to link the app to your child’s Young Person’s Growth Account. If you do, the money stays in the account: it is only the balance that can be seen in Gimi. If you don’t set up the link, the amounts seen in the Gimi app will be fictitious. In that case, there will be no actual balance in the app. It isn’t possible to make payments using Gimi.
Follow the steps in the app to link your child’s Young Person’s Growth Account.
Your child can set their own savings goals and link an amount. In the app, your child will then see how much they have saved or earned, and roughly how long it will take to reach their savings goals. They can also check their balance in the app.
In the app, you can create small jobs for your child to complete. And you can specify how much they can earn for each small job they do. If you want, you can also give others access to the app, so they can add small jobs for your child to do too. Your child can also suggest their own small job in the app.
In the app, your child can learn about the value of money with interactive lessons and quizzes. They’ll get points for doing so, which will earn them badges, sort of like mini-diplomas.
The app is for children between the ages of 8 and 13, and is designed to teach them in a fun and interactive way how to handle money. And because you also have access, financial education really becomes something you do together.
You can use the Gimi app for free if you link it to your child’s Young Person’s Growth Account. Take a look at the terms and conditions and the privacy statement for the Gimi app.
You’ll need internet access to use the app. If you use mobile internet, your telecom provider may charge a fee.
If you link an account from a bank other than ABN AMRO to Gimi, Gimi will charge a fee. Check the Gimi website to see what the fees are.
The Gimi app is safe to use. The content was created by pedagogic experts. And children can’t make purchases within the app, which is ad-free.
To use the Gimi app, you need to share some personal data with Gimi, such as your email address. You can also link your current account to the Gimi app. You can read more about this in Gimi’s privacy statement. ABN AMRO is not involved in the development of the Gimi app.
We hope that you will use this app with your child for a while, and that you will be willing to complete two short surveys.
