ABN AMRO

It's fast, simple and secure

Log in and manage your banking in the app using your fingerprint (Android) or Touch ID or Face ID (iOS). Transferring money, making payments using iDEAL, placing investment orders – you use it instead of your identification code.

If your Android device supports fingerprint unlock

1. Set the fingerprint unlock via the settings on your device.
2. Open the ABN AMRO app on your device and log in.
3. Tap Profile at the bottom of the screen.
4. In the following screen tap Set fingerprint.
5. Move the toggle to enable or disable the feature and then tap Save.
6. Read the short security message and tap Yes.
7. Accept the terms and conditions and enter your 5-digit identification code.
8. Scan your fingerprint.

That's it. Now you can log in and do your banking using your fingerprint.

Only set up fingerprint, Touch ID or Face ID if you are the only person using your device

Make sure that only your own fingerprint or face biometrics are registered on your device. If other people can also unlock your phone with this, they can also use this to log in to the ABN AMRO app. They would then be able to transfer money from your current account, for example.

Re-register

To make sure only your own fingerprint or face biometrics are registered on your mobile device, delete all the scans and re-register just your own fingerprint or face biometrics.

If you have an iPhone or iPad with Touch ID or Face ID

1. Set up Touch ID or Face ID via the settings on your device.
2. Open the ABN AMRO app on your device and log in.
3. Tap 'Profile' at the bottom of the screen.
4. In the following screen tap Set Touch ID or Set Face ID.
5. Move the toggle to enable or disable the feature and then tap Save.
6. Read the short security message and tap Yes.
7. Accept the terms and conditions and enter your 5-digit identification code.

That's it. Now you can log in and do your banking using your fingerprint or facial recognition.

If you'd like to make shared use of the ABN AMRO app on one device, you can do that.

If you'd like to make shared use of the ABN AMRO app on one device with family or someone you know well, you can do that. You can add more than one user to the app. The only thing is that then the fingerprint, Touch ID or Face ID feature will not work: you will each have to do your banking using your personal identification code.

Questions about fingerprint, Touch ID and Face ID

  • If you have a device running iOS, you can do your banking using the Touch ID or Face ID feature
  • On Android devices you can only use the Fingerprint option

Please note: your phone must be running a new iOS or Android version. Check your software version.

Your scanned fingerprints or face data are encrypted and saved on a secure chip on your phone. Given that ABN AMRO cannot access this chip, ABN AMRO does not have access to your fingerprint or face data.

  • Whenever fingerprint or face biometrics are added to or deleted from your mobile device, you will get a notification. Moreover, in that case the feature will be disabled in the app. You will then need to re-enable Fingerprint,Touch ID or Face ID and confirm this with your identification code.
  • To make sure only your own fingerprint or face biometrics are registered, delete all the fingerprints and face biometrics and re-register just your own. Also set a screen lock.

Yes, absolutely. If your fingerprint or facial recognition feature is not working, you can log in with your identification code and pay via the ABN AMRO app.

There are various possible reasons for this:

  • If there are multiple accounts in the app, such as when your partner uses the app on the same device for their banking, you cannot use the fingerprint or facial recognition feature. You can, however, do your banking using your identification code.
  • If your Android device is running the correct version and has a fingerprint scanner and yet you are unable to activate the fingerprint feature, this means that your Android device is not supported. This unfortunately applies to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4, for example. This is caused by technical issues and not the ABN AMRO app or your Android device.

If you have authorised someone to access your current account and this person also uses the ABN AMRO app for this, they can choose whether or not to register their fingerprint or face biometrics. If you do not want them to do so, log in to Internet Banking and disable logging in with the identification code. The person you authorised to access your account will then only be able to access the account by logging in to Internet Banking. They can, of course, keep using the app with an identification code, fingerprint or facial recognition for their own current account

If you have allowed your child to use the ABN AMRO app, your child will be able to choose whether or not to enable the fingerprint or facial recognition feature. If you do not want them to do so, log in to Internet Banking and disable logging in with the identification code. Your child will then only be able to access the account by logging in to Internet Banking.
