How we help you in the event of damage, loss, or theft

You would like to have a carefree holiday. That’s why we don't want to make things more difficult for you than they already are. To make sure that doesn’t happen, we will:

  • Provide a personal claims manager who will answer any questions you have
  • Provide 24/7 emergency assistance
  • Pay out the costs incurred for buying essential items, such as clothing and toiletries, if your personal luggage is delayed by more than 8 hours during the outward journey

What is covered and what is not?

Frequently asked questions

If you are the victim of theft or robbery while travelling, it is important to report  (in Dutch) this to the police. Even if you are abroad. If your bank and/or credit cards have also been stolen during the incident, block them immediately via the ABN AMRO app or Internet Banking. This will increase your chances of recovering your belongings and we can handle your claim.

Annual travel insurance

The most we will pay out for the stolen items is up to €2,500. If your stolen items are recovered within 6 weeks after we have already paid out the applicable amount, you must reimburse us.

Short-term travel insurance

The most we will pay out for the stolen items is up to €1,400 with the standard cover or up to €3,200 with the comprehensive cover. If your stolen items are recovered within 6 weeks after we have already paid out the applicable amount, you must reimburse us.

Annual travel insurance

We will pay out up to €500 in the event of theft or robbery, provided this is not due to negligence on your part, and you did not leave your money on the hotel room nightstand, for example. See the terms and conditions for annual travel insurance .

Short-term travel insurance

We will pay out up to €250 in the event of theft or robbery, provided this is not due to negligence on your part, and you did not leave your money on the hotel room nightstand, for example. See the terms and conditions for short-term travel insurance .

One of the most nerve-wracking aspects of travelling happens just after you have arrived at your destination: finding your way to baggage claim and hoping your luggage will come rolling around on the conveyor belt. If this is not the case and your luggage is delayed by more than 8 hours this will be reimbursed up to a maximum amount.

Annual travel insurance

If your luggage is delayed by more than 8 hours, the most we will pay out is up to €500 per travel group, per trip.

Short-term travel insurance

If your luggage is delayed by more than 8 hours, the most we will pay out is up to €250 per travel group, per trip with the standard cover. With the comprehensive cover this is up to €350 per travel group, per trip.

If your luggage has been damaged, for example during the flight, or if you drop your camera while taking some awesome action pictures, we will pay out the repair costs. If your personal items are beyond repair, we will pay out the current value. However, we will need the proof of purchase to determine the exact amount.

Annual travel insurance

The most we will pay out is up to €500 of the current value of your sunglasses. However, we will need the proof of purchase of your old sunglasses to determine the exact amount.

Short-term travel insurance

The most we will pay out is up to €175 of the current value of your sunglasses. With the comprehensive cover this is at most €350 of the current value of your sunglasses. However, we will need the proof of purchase of your old sunglasses to determine the exact amount.
