Beneficiary bank details

A Bank Identification Code (BIC) or a Bank Clearing Code (BCC) is required for a payment to a bank in India, depending on the currency:

To transfer a payment in INR to a bank in India

To make a payment in INR to a bank in India, a Bank Clearing Code (BCC) is required. A Bank Clearing Code (BCC) is also known as the IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) This code consists of 11 characters.

To transfer a payment in another currency to India

To make a payment in a different currency to a bank in India, a Bank Identification Code (BIC) is required. This is also known as a SWIFT address.

Beneficiary details

An account number in India does not have a fixed format, the number of digits is different for every bank in India.

Cost

These international transfers are subject to private transfer fees and business transfer fees . If you choose for the OUR option, the beneficiary will not be charged anything by their bank. ABN AMRO Bank charges an OUR fee for this.

The conditions for a payment to India

For a transfer to a bank account in India, it is mandatory to enter a Purpose code.

If you use Internet Banking (business) or Access Online Classic

Enter the purpose code at the beginning of the description. See the list of purpose codes below. It is also possible to add a personal description in addition to the mandatory description. 

If you are using Access Online Renewed

Select the reason for payment in the field 'Purpose code'.
