Frequently asked questions about making up arrears

Payments made on Internet Banking or in the ABN AMRO app will be debited from your current account immediately. On the next working day, you will see on your loan overview page that your outstanding debt has gone down.

If you are making a payment by transfer, it will take three working days for the payment to be processed.

As soon as your payment has been processed, you will only pay interest on the new, smaller debt.

We are required to report payment arrears of over 60 days to the Dutch Credit Registration Office (BKR). You will then get a negative mark to your name in their records. This could end up being a problem when you want to buy a house or take out a loan. You will always be given advance warning of a negative BKR registration.
