Identity checks required by law

On entering into a new customer relationship, ABN AMRO, just like other Dutch banks, is bound by national and international regulations. The purpose of these regulations - which we have incorporated into our organisational structures and procedures - is to guarantee the security and integrity of the financial services we provide to you, the customer. Our aim is to be a reliable, professional bank within this regulatory framework, and we are legally obliged to record every new customer's tax and social insurance ('sofi') number. We are also obliged to verify the authenticity of identity documents and to check that your home address is correct. We request your cooperation in this respect. If you have any questions, please contact one of our staff, who will be pleased to provide you with further information.
